Ocean University of China is one of the first group of institutions of higher learning entitled by the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee under the State Council to confer doctoral and master's degrees. The University now has more than 5,115 candidates for master's or doctoral degrees, 2,300 faculty members and administrative staff, among them there are 471 professors , 500 associate professors, two academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences , three academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, two academicians dually employed by both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, over 252 Ph.D. supervisors, six specially appointed professors and five guest professors in "Cheung Kong Scholars Programs".
